A few notes about the original OAVs. The men of Second Unit are a lot more eh... 'rowdy' in this OAV series when it comes to the opposite sex. Prime example would be the reception given when Clancy is first introduced. On the flip side, Clancy seems to act less 'superior' to everyone else but retains the 'we're gonna kick some ass' attitude. Everything else is more or less the same as the tv episodes though.

OP - Future Lovers by Hiroko Kasahara

OAV #1 - 2nd Unit, Go!
The five new members of SV2, 2nd Unit arrives at base where Sakaki and the maintenance crew along with Goto are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 3 new AV98 Ingrams assigned to 2nd Unit. Unfortunately, the units which should have arrived at 11 am get caught up in a gigantic traffic jam caused by a terrorist bombing on a major highway. When a dispatch call is sounded off, 2nd Unit heads off to first retrieve the Ingrams that are still on the road and then head off towards the emergency. In the ensuing battle with the renegade Crabman labor, Ohta's Ingram gets its head ripped off and Noa loses the right arm on her Ingram. But Noa manages to subdue the Crabman. So instead of seeing brand-new shiny labors, Sakaki and the maintenance crew's first look at the new Ingrams are of those which have been beat up, decapitated, and amputated. Not an auspicious start for the new unit.

OAV #2 - Long Shot
The mayor of New York city is coming to Tokyo to view the work done on Project Babylon so far. Project Babylon is a very extensive project initiated to create a gigantic sea wall along the coast of Tokyo Bay in preparation for the rise of the ocean levels due to global warming and also to recover land from the ocean. Many labors are used in this project and the project itself has drawn a lot of criticism from environmental groups, including the House of Sea which is the most militant and prone to execute terrorist attacks. Sergeant Kanuka Clancy comes to SV2 first to help prepare security for the mayor's arrival since there had been confirmation that a terrorist attack by the House of Sea would occur sometime during the mayor's visit. The threat turns out to be a gigantic multiple rocket launcher/bomb aimed at the hotel where the mayor is going to have lunch. It falls on Asuma's shoulders to defuse the threat with Kanuka coaching him over the radio. Afterwards, it is announced that Kanuka will be with 2nd Unit for the next year for training purposes.

OAV #3 - Trap of 4.5 Million Years
A strange, unknown life form is living in Tokyo Bay and causing all kinds of random destruction to areas along the bayshore. When it is confirmed that the life form is some sort of giant sea monster, SV2 is called in to investigate/kill/capture. A doctor shows up who claims that he was the one who made the creature and then threw it away because it was evolving so fast that he didn't know what to do with it. When 2nd unit manages to force the creature to appear from out of the water, they are horrified/mystified to see that it looks almost identical to Hiromi-san. The monster and Hiromi stare at each other for a while and then the monster heads off to sea and away from civilization. Last reports of it had it moving south where it was never seen again.

OAV #4 - Tragedy of L
Due to an incident where Ohta defuses a hostage situation by shooting blanks from the labor revolver at the 2 hostage takers AND the hostage within the confines of a second-story video rental store (blowing up the store in the process), 2nd Unit gets some leave and is sent back to the Mt. Fuji training grounds to train again. While there, spooky things start to happen which freaks almost everyone out. However, it turns out that the spooky events and the story that went with it was concocted by Goto, Shinobu, and the training director in an attempt to teach unit 2 that the gun is a very dangerous weapon and should not be used without careful consideration.

OAV #5 - 2nd Unit's Longest Day (Part 1)
While the members of 2nd Unit are separated during winter holiday, a coup d'etat begins within Tokyo and the rebels capture some key positions within the capital. Watching all that's occuring on the news, the members of 2nd Unit make their way back to Tokyo to fight against the rebels.

OAV #6 - 2nd Unit's Longest Day (Part 2)
The finale of this two-part episode, 2nd Unit attempts to find and capture the man behind the coup. Ohta gets to play with a giant gatling gun. Eventually the mastermind is captured on a ship off the coast but he vows to try again if he lives to do so.

OAV #7 - The SV Unit Goes North!
A military labor which was supposed to be displayed at the International Labor Show is stolen!
