End of a decade...

As most of you probably know (if not, what, you think you're above TV or something?), Friends finally ended last night. And damnit, I watched it and I'm proud of it. I don't wanna hear any of those tired "it's soooo unrealistic" or "what's with all the white people?" complaints. The damn thing was a tv sitcom. You don't watch tv sitcoms for their realistic settings or plots. You just need to be easily entertained. And that's what I am. Although that doesn't explain my aversion to the reality tv fad. I guess I'm just an old-school sitcom kind of guy. Anyhoo, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of loss when watching the final moments of the show. Not cause it was ending but cause of the situation they were in. If everyone you knew were moving away and moving on all at the same time, you'd be feeling emotional too. Ah well, at least there's still Joey. ;-) And Scrubs. If Joey's not a worthy successor, then Scrubs definitely is.

Looking forward to Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. The sideshows have finally become stars! ;-p

I don't dislike "Friends" but never understood why it had such a loyal following. Sure, it was consistently entertaining, but that could be said for a lot of shows. It never got me laughing as hard as Seinfeld (and I'm not a New Yorker), or even Fraiser at moments. Maybe it has something to do with targeting the right age group? Or that there's enough leads for the audinece to identify with?

"Must See TV?" Nah...

Being from west of the west coast, I'm not too familiar with the White Castle thing. It's a real burger chain? Oh, and they WON'T doing any of the stereotypical Korean or Indian jokes, right?

Speaking of burgers and Asians... I don't know whether to laugh or be disgusted. Ever type in this URL: http://i-am-asian.com?

Re: Friends
I guess some people either aspire to that sort of lifestyle or just wanted to live vicariously through uh, tv. ;-p I had one girl tell me when I was in Taiwan that she wished her friends were like that. I guess it didn't hurt either that the entire cast wasn't exactly hard on the eyes for either sex.

Re: White Castle
Yup it's a real chain and it's possibly the greatest late night junk food ever. At least in suburbia. I'm assuming if they go near stereotypical Korean/Indian jokes there'll be some twist to 'em. *shrug*

Re: i-am-asian
Good lord that's just bizarre. Speaking of which, Super Size Me looks to be pretty good. My fav line in the article talking about why McD's spokesperson thought the movie was inaccurate:

Howard alleged that Spurlock did no exercise, overate and snacked between meals, consuming 5,000-7,000 calories a day, twice the recommended daily allowance for adult males.

I may be going out on a limb here but I'm assuming that's EXACTLY why there was a 60% increase of obese Americans within the last decade.

Looks like links are no longer allowed on comments. Anyway, link to Super Size Me article:
