Back to our roots...

So my dad took all of us back to his childhood home yesterday down in Ping-Tung to pay our respects. It's a more rustic area where things move much more slowly and practically nothing changes. I haven't been back there for quite awhile (last time was when my grandmother passed away over 6 years ago) and still, nothing's really changed.

The house is one of those old-style Chinese houses that's U-shaped with a central courtyard. My father's oldest brother lives there now along with his family and either I never really paid attention before or it just dawned on me this time around but they actually raise and sell tropical fish for a living. Unfortunately, none of the breeds that I'm interested in. ;-)

Cichlids?

They also own a black mutt that has no problems with cars arriving or departing or mopeds arriving but will enthusiastically bark and chase after mopeds leaving.

Blackie

And as befitting dogs anywhere in the world, they're suckers for attention.
