Well that wasn't so bad...

Cleaning up the ol' site took less time than I thought. But man I've got some ugly-ass pages in there. =) Anyhoo, you can get to it from here. I take no responsibility to links to other sites that may or may not still exist. Some notes after the break...

This site design seems to have existed from my time in Hawaii through my years in Taiwan and a bit afterwards. Doesn't sound like it was so long ago but it definitely was and it shows. =) Obviously some things haven't changed, namely the layout of the main page. My current layout's still pretty much the same. Just less anime-oriented and cleaner. If it ain't broke... as the saying goes.

You'll notice I made liberal use of little, round balls of numerous colors throughout the site. I had to salvage the purple one from the web but a good number of them still link to the UofC's server that holds the student sites.

*sniff* *sniff* Damn I miss that Powerbook G3. That was one fine looking laptop. And one of the few things I miss about ol' MacOS 9 is Kaleidoscope, which basically let you change the look & feel of every part of the OS. Sure there's a MacOS X equivalent these days but the themes available aren't quite there yet. Oh yeah, and that t-shirt at the bottom of the page? Still got it. =) Even though the store is no more. =(

I can't believe I wasted so much time on the anime sites that I had back then. Good lord, writing entire synopses of episodes??? The hell was I thinking? Sometimes I wish I had made better use of my time back then but oh well, it's all good. ;-p

For the Tenchi Muyo Gallery and Maison Ikkoku General Gallery, I remember one of the reasons I just HAD to get the PowerMac 8500 when I was in Hawaii was because it had built-in RCA and audio in ports so you could hook up your VCR to it. That's basically how the screen captures were done.

Unfortunately I failed to download my Maison Ikkoku Drama CD Gallery in time back then when GeoCities was undergoing changes so I lost the entire site. =( Ugh...

I remember spending ages putzing around on Photoshop coming up with that title image on the Patlabor site. Not a particularly impressive feat but I had no graphic design training so it took some effort. =p

A lot of the Fam & Ihrlie subpages look skewed cause back then I was designing for a 640x480 screen. So with today's higher-resolution monitors, things don't look so hot. I've become a better designer since then so hopefully my current pages are more future-proof. ;-)

And I remember spending a ton of effort with the anime images on the site, mainly extracting the individual characters from the rest of the picture that they were originally in so that they would look as seam-less as possible on a solid background. Lots of agonizing time with the magnetic lasso tool. =p
